Lifetime Fitness - Will not let you cancel membership

Well I can see I am not alone here. I canceled my membership over a year ago, noticed I was still being billed so I called the Flower Mound, TX facility and of course they had lost my cancelation paperwork!!! My credit card had expired a couple of months ago so at least they cannot continue to *** dry... but wait, somehow after I contacted LTF they just charged my new credit card (same cc # new exp. date). So they must have kept guessing the cc exp date until they hit the right year. UNBELIEVABLE...........This company sucks ***!!!!!!

Lifetime Fitness in Chicago, Illinois - Lifetime continues to bill for cancelled membership

We cancelled our membership years ago. I realized a few months back they were still billing $10 per month. After multiple calls, they still refused to stop billing so I cancelled my credit card. Now they are throwing me into bad debt. Have had numerous phone conversations and they won't let go. Last person I spoke with promissed that it would be taken care of. Now I'm getting another past due notice. Out of principle I'm not driving in. Every other business has discovered email and the internet (they have my cancellation in writing via the internet) Business must be really bad. Lifetime is mediocre at best. Joined Equinox in Chicago. Better equipment and trainers are excellent.

Lifetime Fitness in Mesa, Arizona - Charged because I didn't cancel in time

I can't believe life time fitness can prorate my start up cost and collected my money but can't stop the billing charge because there is not enough time. I was charged a full month because of official rules.... WHAT A RIP OFF! They have no shame... At the time of my signing up my child who is now over 21 I had to pay half a month and was told I was getting a deal.... We knew she was going off to college out of state and told the salesman to put an end date on the contract. We were "told" all was well. When the month came when she was leaving, there were not notations in her bill and I was charged for the next month. I called... and was given the company line, "we bill a month out... you should have cancelled earlier. Again, if they can prorate my start up why can't they prorate my end. They do this on vacation stops as well.... BEWARE, They love money more than respecting your time.

Lifetime's focus is getting as much out of you as possible. There top priority is screwing you (sometimes with a smile) and sometimes very rudely

Lifetime Fitness in Kingwood, Texas - Harassing sales team

I had emailed once to request pricing for my local Lifetime Fitness in Kingwood, Texas. I received a phone call within 10 minutes and 2 emails. Irritating enough but when I declined due to their pricing, they kept contacting me. This was a month ago. I have just received another phone call. I have blocked them as Spam in my email server and had to block their number via my mobile company. The major clue was that they do not have pricing on their website and push contracts. Even if they were the cheapest around, I'd NEVER do business with such aggressive people. After reading the other complaints, I'm not alone or surprised. They are horrible. I found a better gym that actually cost more but no contract and I'm very happy. Avoid any contact with Lifetime Fitness.

LifeTime Fitness Misled Me, and Stole $90

Having been a member for 14 years, I asked for the best single rate possible following a divorce. They recommended I signed up at the standard rate prior to asking a manager for a loyal customer rate. There was "no risk" as the sales staff assured me I had 14 days to cancel at anytime if the GM could not give me a price break. Two days later, the GM said he would have his sales director call me to see what they could do on pricing. The next day, the sales director called me to say there was nothing they could do on pricing. After requesting my refund and being referred back and forth between Corporate and the gym, LifeTime Fitness claimed they were sorry I was under the impression I could get a refund. They refused to give me my money back after promising I could cancel within 14 days. They ripped me $90 because my 14-year membership had been interrupted at least once –a brief interruption working abroad.

Lifetime Fitness in Cincinnati, Ohio - Dirty and filthy equipment and locker room.

All of the elliptical riders, treadmills, stationary bikes, and the changing room lockers are absolutely filthy. They are outdated, and not maintained on a regular basis. The equipment is supposed to be cleaned by the personal trainers - who seldom clean it. They are seldom cleaned and is a hygiene issue. Even the freakin' YMCA and LA Fitness keep their equipment clean. I have made multiple calls to the Headquarters - but they are absolutely of no use. Kids run around in the treadmills and other equipment upstairs with little to no supervision. I am not sure what it will take to get this place cleaned. Used to be a nice place. But it has gone down hill recently. I canceled my membership as these bozos are not customer focused.

I am the rarest of things, a Founders Member at LTF. I bought my membership at the FIRST club in Eagan, Mn in 1993 and it bought me $48/mo for a family for life! The deal of a lifetime. Since then they terminated many of the Founders priveledges and have worked to...

Lifetime Fitness in San Antonio, Texas - Shady Business

I wrked for Life Tie for years. the thing that bothers me the most to this day is a business strategy the GM called " Don't wake the sleeping giant". Basically the comapny was raising the monthy rates for it's members but only the members that were USING the facility. You see, the payments are all made via EFT (automatic withdrawl, Electronic Funds Transfer) and they would have had to send a letter to the members NOT using the facility saying they were raising the rates. Doing that would trigger a big cancelation because people would realize they're still being charged. So they just raised the rates of the members frequently using the club as they would obviously be less likely to cancel. SHADY!

Not true. All members' rates went up.

Usage had nothing to do with it.

And yes several non users noticed, but so did the active users. "Sleeping giant" is the term for those non users that noticed.

Since you were not a "GM" you are ignorant to their due diligence. Current member, and I have received letters concerning this.

It is worth it considering the alternative health club choices in the greater Houston area.

Apparently, you have nothing better to do than throw mud. At least you are good at something.

Lifetime Fitness - 2 MEN TRAINERS DONT WASH THERE HANDS

ON 2 VISITS I SAW 2 TRAINERS IN THE BATHROOM GOING TO THE BATHROOM, & LEAVE WITHOUT WASHING THERE HANDS, TOTAL PIGS. I HAVE SEEN THIS ALSO AT THE LAKEVILLE GYM, IVE SEEN PLENTY OF MEMBERS DO THIS BUT TRAINERS???? THERES NO EXCUSE FOR THIS ITS JUST SICK, YOU THINK THEY WOULD KNOW BETTER, I ASK THEM TO PUT UP SIGNS IN THE BATHROOMS BUT THAT HAS NOT BEEN DONE. YOU WONDER WHY PEOPLE GET SICK. FOR THE $170.00 A MONTH WE PAY FOR A FAMILY OF FOUR TO GOT TO THE GYM, YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

Lifetime Fitness - NOT a family friendly place; be careful with your kids

The videos they show in the exercise area are filth--e.g., J-Lo's "Dance Again" video where she's writing around on the floor with a bunch of other nude people in a simulated orgy . . . all shown in an area open to any kid over 12. In the Kids' Club they show lots of PG13 movies. Think about how idiotic that is. The people that make the movie even warn you that it's probably not something anyone under 13 should watch, and the Kids' Club only kids that are under 12 there, and yet they show this stuff. Lifetime seems to be another corporation that has no sensibility at all to parents concerns. They're trying to attract 20-somethings, not families.
